CBRE Global Investors expands logistics investment expertise with appointment of John Thomas

LOS ANGELES – January 26, 2016 – John Thomas has joined CBRE Global Investors as Senior Managing Director overseeing the company’s North American logistics investment strategy and execution and serving as Global Practice Leader for the logistics business globally.
Prior to joining the firm, Thomas, who has more than 30 years of industrial/logistics experience in the U.S. and internationally, served as Founder and President of Hillwood Investment Properties’ European logistics platform, where he was responsible for the management, strategic direction and sourcing of transactions. He also previously served as Global CIO and Director of European Operations for Panattoni Development Company, Co-founder and Chief Real Estate Officer for Clarion Partners’ Lion Industrial Trust, and held senior roles with Crow Holdings and Trammell Crow Company.
“CBRE Global Investors has been active in the logistics sector for years, and we recognize the dramatic changes taking place in global supply chain solutions,” said Matt Khourie, CEO, CBRE Global Investors. “With John’s vast experience in the logistics sector, he is a key addition to enhance our business as we look to address the increasing demand for logistics assets and expand investment in this rapidly changing market for our investor clients.”
“Significant growth in global trade, and particularly e-commerce, has challenged the conventional logistics model and is changing where facilities need to be located and how they should be designed,” Thomas said. “As one of the largest managers of logistics assets in the world, CBRE Global Investors has both the global reach and the experience to execute strategies that capitalize on these strategic shifts.”
Thomas is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Massachusetts, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting. He also is a certified public accountant.
