CBRE Global Investors 2018 Private Real Asset Transactions Include Increasing Volume of Acquisitions in Specialty Sectors

LOS ANGELES – March 11, 2019 – CBRE Global Investors completed $24.1 billion in private real assets transactions globally in 2018, including an increasing volume of acquisitions in specialty sectors as part of the firm’s cycle-aware investment strategy.

Acquisitions totaled $14.7 billion during the year in which the firm raised a record $10.9 billion of capital for private investment in real assets.

Notable acquisitions in 2018 included:

  • U.S. student housing portfolio providing exposure to 29,271 beds
  • Spanish residential portfolio with 6,000 units
  • 57-building U.S. medical office portfolio
  • Korean logistics portfolio
  • Three-building state-of-the-art data center portfolio
  • 1,400-unit Dutch residential portfolio
  • U.S. super-regional mall portfolio
  • Iconic mixed-use asset in Germany featuring high street units, hotel, office space and apartments
  • Self-storage portfolio
  • Nine-asset Spanish hotel portfolio
  • Australian smart metering business
  • 170,000 square meter French logistics asset

Dispositions totaled $9.4 billion as the firm selectively took advantage of strong buyer demand to benefit its clients.

Transaction activity by region was:

  • Europe: $12.9 billion
  • Americas: $9.1 billion
  • Asia: $2.1 billion
