CBRE Clarion Receives the 2019 GRESB Investor Member of the Year Award

Philadelphia – December 18, 2019 – CBRE Clarion has been named the 2019 GRESB Investor Member of the Year – North America. This award recognizes investment managers that have demonstrated excellence in environmental, social and governance (ESG) practices in the real asset sector. CBRE Clarion Securities was the first active REIT securities fund manager in North America to join GRESB as an Investor Member in 2013. CBRE Clarion’s persistent engagement with REIT management teams on ESG has resulted in strong REIT sector growth in the annual GRESB benchmark.

“CBRE Clarion Securities is a true leader on ESG,” said Dan Winters, GRESB Head of Americas. “As a long-standing GRESB Investor Member, CBRE Clarion has become progressively sophisticated, integrating ESG-based metrics into a range of decision points.  Peer-based performance metrics on ESG shape investor views on a REIT’s current and future competitive position. CBRE Clarion’s advanced application of GRESB data complements financial disclosures, providing a more holistic view of REIT performance.”

Diane Wade, Head of ESG for CBRE Clarion, said, “GRESB data and analysis are a valued component of our ESG research, and we are pleased to be recognized by GRESB for our leadership and advocacy. Across our global platform, CBRE is committed to responsible investing and the integration of ESG research into our investment process.”

The GRESB Investor Member of the Year Award is presented annually to investors that have a consistent track record of attention to the ESG performance of their investments, commitment to requesting disclosure, dedication to advocacy, ongoing company-engagements and demonstrated thought leadership in improving GRESB standards.
